Movie Review: Life Partner...

I think I may have lost my sense of humor. The last two movies I’ve seen (Shortkut & Life Partner) are supposed to be comedies. I usually laugh when something is even remotely funny. I totally cracked up through all of Dhamaal, I loved Dostana, Om Shanti Om was hilarious. Has the standard of comedy just gone down lately? Because I didn’t find either of these last two films even remotely funny. Maybe...

Movie Review: Shortkut – The Con is On...

The tagline of this one is rather appropriate. It stars Akshaye Khanna and Arshad Warsi, so you figure that this will at least be a decent film. Therein lies the con. This one doesn’t even start out on a good note. It’s dreadfully slow, and I found myself almost falling asleep a few times. We start out with the lives of Shekhar (Akshaye) and Raju (Arshad), both struggling to make it big in Bollywood. Shekhar...

Two quick reviews...

More quick ones. LUCK BY CHANCE I liked this one, but not as much as other people have. It’s a good story, but it moves a bit too slow for me. Found myself getting bored halfway through, wishing things would hurry up a bit. Farhan and Koko were great, they make a cute couple. Loved the ending as well, perfect ending for it, and not a cop-out. Hope to see more of Zoya’s movies in the future. Songs were ok, I...

3 quick reviews...

Haven’t really felt like writing full reviews lately, so here are quick reviews of the last three films I’ve seen. BILLU BARBER This was a nice movie, but it could have been a lot better. I’m sure many figured it was an SRK movie, because all the promotion seemed to point to it. I loved the soundtrack, but at least two of SRK’s songs needed to be cut to make for a better film. Love Mera Hit Hit...

Movie Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi...

*contains spoilers, major plot points revealed* Aditya Chopra’s first film, DDLJ, as we know, was a major blockbuster, and is still running in theaters to this day. Five years later, his second film, Mohabbatein, though not on the same level as DDLJ, was a big hit. And now, 8 long years later, we get Adi’s third film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Can it live up to the earlier two movies, especially DDLJ? A film like...

Top 10 songs of 2008...

So, my top 10 lists are back. Not much to top 10 about during the middle of the year, so I guess these will mainly show up at years end. And look, it’s already almost December. Time flies. Lets start out with some honorable mentions. Songs I liked, but not enough to make my list. And, I will admit, I wanted to put more Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi songs on the top 10 list, but I figure that’s because the songs are so...

Movie Review: Dostana...

will include spoilers This movie was always going to be a big deal. The topic of homosexuality is a touchy subject anywhere, not just India. And there really hasn’t been a movie of the sort in Bollywood. They didn’t go all the way, and have a big name star actually play a gay character, but this is close enough for the moment. Sam and Kunal (Abhi/John) pretend they are a gay couple, in order to rent a...

Music Review: Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi...

So, here we go. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, if not the most. Adi-SRK back together again, etc etc. There’s been lots of talk about SRK being paired with such a young co-star, Anushka Sharma. Salim-Suleman were selected to do the music, and that also raised eyebrows. Would they be able to get the job done? Were t hey the right choice? Should composers like AR Rehman, SEL, or VS have been...

Movie Review: Bachna Ae Haseeno...

So, how’s Ranbir’s second attempt? And in that case, how’s Deepika’s? Well, let’s just say, you find out quite a bit about Ranbir’s potential. Deepika? Not so much. As I’m sure everyone knows by now, BAH involves three ladies, meaning three different stories. We will start with story one, Ranbir Kapoor/Minissha Lamba. We’re subjected to lots and lots of DDLJ references...

Movie Review: Sarkar Raj...

*minor spoilers* I loved Sarkar. I thought it was very well made, all the actors did an incredible job. It’s one of my favorite movies. So I was excited to hear that RGV was making another one. I’m not a big fan of RGV’s movies, but since I loved Sarkar so much, I figured this one had to be along those lines. And it was, kind of. The same premise, kind of the same storyline. But something just...
